Located on the tip of Asia, Azerbaijan is bordered by – Russia, Iran, Armenia and Georgia. Primarily known for its oil export, it does fall under the radar of many passionate travellers. Unknown to many, this nation has been referred to as the “Land of Fire”, as a natural gas fire named “Yanar Dag” –burning mountain blazes on the hillside of the Caspian Sea near Baku. The trip usually starts by landing in Baku, which feels like stepping back in time. The city comprises the majority of historical treasures. Tour Plan
Day 1
Guests will report at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai as per the scheduled flight departure time and proceed to Baku– the capital and the largest city on the Caspian Sea and in the Caucasus Region. Upon arrival, Just4U Tour Manager will guide all guests for airport formalities and proceed to the city. Joining and Leaving tour guests will join the group on their own at the designated place or hotel. Today we visit Shirvanshah palace – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the former residence of the rulers of the Shirvanshahs. Later we explore Baku city, we see Old town - the historical core of Baku and the most ancient part of Baku, which is surrounded by walls which were easily defended, Maiden tower - a UNESCO world heritage site and a symbol of Baku city, Fountain Square - a public square in Baku city and a location where the city authorities hold many public festivals, shows and celebrations, National Flag Square - The flagpole was confirmed as the world's tallest by the Guinness Book of Records, TV Tower – a free standing concrete telecommunications tower and the tallest structure in Azerbaijan and the tallest reinforced concrete building in Caucasus.
Day 2
Today we visit Gobustan National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is famous for the ancient carvings, cave paintings and gas-stones. It is also home to remains of inhabited caves, burials and other human settlements from just after the last Ice Age through to the middle Ages. Upon arrival we see Mud volcanoes – Azerbaijan is home to nearly a third of the world's mud volcano's. Later we proceed back to Baku. Upon arrival we take a photo stop at Heydar aliyev centre - one of the signature architectural landmarks of modern Baku and Azerbaijan Further we visit Carpet Museum- the only museum that was dedicated to the art of carpet weaving. The main purpose of the creation of the museum was to store, research, and demonstrate unique examples of the carpet weaving art, Highland Park- well known as ‘’Viewing Square’’, Flame towers – a trio of skyscrapers in Baku, Baku’s long history of fire, worshiping provided the inspiration for the development of this iconic design. In the evening we walk through Nizami Street - one of the best place to roam around the city. Followed by a beautiful boat ride at “Little Venice of Baku”.
Day 3
Today we proceed to Shahdag - a land of ancient glaciers, majestic valleys, and stunning mountain lakes. Here we enjoy a cable car ride and admire the Greater Caucasus ranges. Those who are with adventure spirit can experience thrilling activities like skiing, Paragliding, Snow tubing, Snowmobile etc. at an additional cost. In the afternoon we proceed to Quba – a small charming city at the foot of the mighty Caucasus mountains in the north of Azerbaijan. Here we walk through Red Village - the only entirely Jewish settlement outside of Israel and the United States.
Day 4
Today we proceed to Baku. En-route we visit we Yanar dag – also known as Burning Mountain, which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula. Further we visit Ateshgah- Ancient Zoroastrian Temple which was visited by Mahatma Gandhi and Tzar Nicholas. We then visit Gala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum- Well-known open-air historical and ethnographic museum. Scientists have found the evidence showing that the first settlements on the site of Gala village appeared at least 5,000 years ago.
Day 5
Today we proceed to Gabala - beautiful part of Azerbaijan with a rich and ancient history. En-route we visit Sheki - a charming city nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Azerbaijan. Upon arrival, we visit The Palace of Shaki Khans - was a summer residence for the Shaki khans - who were in charge of controlling Shaki. Further we visit Church of Kish – a beautiful Caucasus Albanian Temple and according to one of the legends, it was built in the 1st century AD and is the first Christian temple in the world. Later we take a Photo stop at Sheki Karvansaray - a historical monument in Sheki, a part of building is now used as a hotel.
Day 6
Today we enjoy a cable car ride to Tufandag Mountain - the third highest mountain in Azerbaijan with the height of 13770 feet. In the afternoon we proceed to Gabala. En route we take a photo stop at Nohur Lake - one of the most ancient places of Azerbaijan. It is a combination of mountainous landscape and diverse fauna. Here we enjoy boat ride which provides stunning views of forests and high mountains.
Day 7
Today we proceed to Baku. En-route we visit Juma Mosque in Shamaki – one of Azerbaijan's largest and most lavish places of worship.
Guests will proceed to the airport as per their scheduled group flight departure time and start their journey back home. 'Joining & Leaving' tour guests will proceed on their own to their scheduled departure destination, like an airport, railway station, bus terminal, or cruise terminal.
